Our Giggly Kids

The little startle at the end of Emma's video cracks me up.

Daddy Took Us to the Park

I don't know who is pushing who here.

Notice how he points back at the slide at the end of his run as if to say, "You da bomb."

Jack didn't know who he was getting into the ring with here.

Before I was a Mom...

My mom sent me this poem today. I can't improve on it.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on..
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

I love being your Mommy, Jack Tyler and Emma Kate!

Nats Defeat Cards (for once)

Unfortunately the Nationals don't have a lot to brag about right now, but they decided to beat the best team in baseball this past Saturday at the game we attended (nice timing).

It was Emma and Jack's first baseball experience. I'll post more pictures (from Mimi) later, but for now, here are the few I took with my camera.

Emma with my Aunt Carol (sometimes mistaken for my sister).

A very tired Jack at the end of the game. The hand to the hair is either a signal to steal second or to go to bed.

And an even more tired Emma.

Classic pose.
The fam at the park. Wisely taken at the beginning of the game before the kids were lights out.

Then it was back to my brother's house in downtown DC for a little grill out. At the house Jack discovered his favorite instrument. (This picture was taken shortly before he turned around, tripped over daddy's feet, and tumbled into a crying mess.)

Outside Ben's house...

We had a great day, Papa and Mimi. Thank you for the tickets! Ben (even though you don't read our blog), thanks for the hospitality!

Pop Pop's Visit

Pop Pop came down today for the morning. He took Jack to Green Meadows petting farm. They had a little jam session when they returned.

And Emma gave some of the sweetest goodbyes when it was time for Pop Pop to go home. Maybe there's hope that one day she'll actually let someone besides Kris or me to hold her for more than 2 minutes!?
