Inigo Montoya

You don't have to teach a boy to like sticks and sword fighting. While we visited my parents in Charlottesville Jack got a chance to brush up on his skills. Sorry there is no sound. The only one you really miss the sound with is the second one. Just pretend you hear his sqealing every time Kris comes after him.

At the Park with Nonna and Pop Pop

Yesterday was a full day for little Jack Tyler. Nonna and Pop Pop visited with us for the morning. Pop Pop can't sit still so upon arrival he immediately asked Jack what they were going to do that day and out the door they went for a walk around the neighborhood and a long visit to the park...

It takes a lot to wear Pop Pop and Nonna out, but Jack managed to do it. Everyone was in need of a nap by lunch time. We love it when you guys come to visit! No more cross country trips where you leave us for a month! That was brutal! :)

On the Phone

Jack thinks that talking on the phone is synonymous with talking to Coach (Grandpa). Whenever he picks up his little toy phone and I ask him who he's talking to, it's usually "Ca" which is short for Coach.

While we were in Charlottesville a few weeks ago he had quite the conversation, filled with all sorts of facial expressions...

Looks like the call didn't end well.

D-Day

So today is Emma's due date. Babies rarely come on the actual due date, so I'm not counting on anything today...but that said, I have been having contractions all morning/afternoon. Jack and I went on a 2.5 mile walk this morning to try and "walk Emma out", but the contractions don't seem to be getting too intense so it's a little confusing as to what is going on, but we could have a D-Day baby! Stay tuned...

Still Waiting...

My husband informs me that he does not plan to "live blog" the labor, so for those of you who were expecting that...sorry. :) However, we will try to post something sometime soon after little Emma arrives. She is due this coming Tuesday. My doctor's appointment today revealed that she's still in my tummy, and we still don't know when she's coming. So, thank you to those who have told us you're praying. That is a great kindness to us.

In the meantime, here are a few recent pictures of the only-child-for-now to hold you over.

Any Resemblance?

During our trip to Illinois this summer my Aunt Carol dug out some old family photos. Below is a picture of my Grandpa Bud and Grandma Dot (my Papa's parents). Maybe it's just me, but the minute I saw this picture I realized where I got my nose and eyes. It's kinda cool to think about the family members that have gone before us. (And it looks like calla lilies weren't original to our wedding!)

Men's Meeting

Kris needed some back up last men's meeting, so he called in a pro...

(I just thought this picture was cute. The girls are in the kitchen and Jack took his place on the couch next to his Dadda. Smart kid.)

A Week in Charlottesville

Earlier this month Kris went to a week-long conference. We missed him lots and lots, but we got to spend the week at my folks. Jack had such a great time bonding with Nana, Coach, and Uncle Jos.

One day Jack and I went to volleyball try-outs at the old gym I used to play in. My dad is the coach. Jack seemed to pick up on coaching techniques real quick.
Here he is demonstrating a drill...

Here he is stylin' and profilin' in the classic "You're at tryouts and I own you" coaching position...
He had to keep Coach groomed during tryouts...

Some poor girl might get cut because Jack slobbered her name off the roster!

Watch out girls, he's got the look of love in his eyes. This might just be the sport for him.

On another day we visited Grandpa La and helped him water his tomato plants. (He had grown these plants from a tomato I had given him last year!)

Grandpa has a little bridge in the backyard that Jack just loved.

And below are a few pics my mom took from a walk the two of them took one day.

We don't want Daddy to leave us again, but we sure had such a fun time!
